Asakusa Temple – The Asakusa Temple is the oldest and most visited temple in Tokyo. For those who believe, this temple is said to bring good luck, good interpersonal relationships, and can grant all requests. This Temple combines majestic architecture, centers of worship, elaborate Japanese gardens, and traditional markets to give you a modern-day look at the history and culture of Japan.

The Asakusa Shrine was built in 645 AD to honor the god of forgiveness, that is the God of Kanon. When the temple was founded, Asakusa is a fishing village. The temple, also known as Sensoji Temple, is located in the center of Asakusa, on the banks of the Sumida River.

Although only fifteen minutes away from the Tokyo Syktree, the tallest building in Japan, Asakusa Temple presents its own traditional Japanese atmosphere. After setting foot in the Temple area, you will feel yourself going back to ancient Japanese civilization. The architecture of the temple, the center of worship, the typical Japanese garden, and the traditional market will sweep you away in Japanese history and culture.

Upon entering this Temple, you will be greeted by the Fujin Statue (God of the Winds) and Raijin (God of Lightning or Thunder) located at the entrance of the temple, known as Kaminarimon or Thunder Gate. Afterwards there is a Hozomon Gate that leads to a shopping street at Nakamise which is full of Japanese snack sellers and crafts made by Japanese society. Nakamise Street is the connecting road from Thunder Gate to Kannondo Hall, the center of Asakusa Temple.
