The Asakusa Shrine was built in 645 AD to honor the god of forgiveness (the God of Kanon). When the temple was founded, Asakusa is a fishing village. The temple, also known as Sensoji Temple, is located in the center of Asakusa, on the banks of the Sumida River.

Afterwards there is a Hozomon Gate that leads to a shopping street at Nakamise which is full of Japanese snack sellers and crafts made by Japanese society. Nakamise Street is the connecting road from Thunder Gate to Kannondo Hall, the center of Asakusa Temple.
