Xelexi.com – Jalan Braga (or Braga Street) is a small street in the center of Bandung, Indonesia which is famous since colonial times. The street starts from the T-junction with Jalan Asia Afrika (or De Groote Postweg in colonial times) northward to the city council (city hall), which was once a coffee shop.

In the period 1920 to 1930s many entrepreneurs built beautiful cafes, boutiques and restaurants with European nuances along the way. One of the most famous boutiques of the time was Au Bon Marche which only sold imported clothing from Paris. It is said that the existence of this boutique that makes Bandung got its nickname as Paris van Java.

The popularity of this area makes it one of the tourist destinations in Bandung until now, not only for Bandung residents, but also for domestic and foreign tourists. This place will be very crowded by visitors when the weekend, especially in the long holiday season.

One of the attractions for tourists on Jalan Braga is Braga City Walk. Braga City Walk is an integrated tourist area with complete and modern facilities created for the convenience of every visitor.

There are many facilities in Braga City Walk, such as shopping centers and stores that sell a variety of products, such as fashion, electronics, sports, toys, and others. Also entertainment facilities such as modern cinema, live music, live performance and karaoke. There are also culinary facilities that will pamper your tongue through restaurants and cafes that provide local, asian, western and fast food.

Some festivals are also often held in Braga Street, such as Braga Festival and Braga Culinary Night which has been held every Sunday since 2014. With Braga Culinary Night, Bandung City government trying to restore the joy of Braga street. During the festival Braga Street will be closed up to 500 meters from the evening until midnight.

Not far from Jalan Braga, you can visit other interesting tourist sites such as Gedung Merdeka Bandung (or Asian-African Building), Bandung City Square, and Bandung Grand Mosque (or Masjid Agung Bandung). You can reach these locations by walking while enjoying the view of Bandung.
