Xelexi.com – Located in the provinces of West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara, Komodo National Park has an area of 173,300 ha covering land and sea. This National Park has five main islands namely Komodo Island, Padar Island, Rinca Island, Gili Motang, Nusa Kode. The five main islands and their surrounding islands are declared National Parks to protect endangered Komodo dragons and their habitats as well as the biodiversity within the region.

The marine parks are naturally formed to protect the vast marine biota of the islands, one of the richest on earth. There are 277 species of animals that are a mix of animals originating from Asia and Australia, consisting of 32 species of mammals, 128 bird species, and 37 species of reptiles (Wikipedia).

The main attraction of Komodo National Park is the existence of ancient giant reptiles of Komodo dragons (Varanus komodoensis), including the authenticity and distinctiveness of nature, especially the savanna panorama and the stunning underwater scenery.

Many activities you can do here, such as fishing, snorkeling, diving, canoeing, boating, animal observation, hiking, and camping.

Coral reefs in Komodo National Park are among the most beautiful in the world. The various shapes and colors of hard coral and soft corals are very interesting to see. There are over 1000 species of fish, 260 species of corals and 70 species of sponges and many other invertebrates that can be found in many places in this Park.

On 23 January 2017, MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi visited Komodo National Park for the holidays. Photos of the motor racing maestro are circulating on several social media accounts. Rossi himself uploaded his vacation photos through his personal instagram account @valeyellow46.

To get to Komodo National Park, the starting point should be Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara. Air and sea transportation are available to reach Labuan Bajo. If by air, the airport of destination is Labuan Airport or Komodo Airport (IATA code: LBJ). There are direct flight routes from Jakarta or can also transit in Denpasar first.
